Serfas Echelon Bar Tape, Brown Marble Reviews
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful Decent enough for the price, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Serfas Echelon Bar Tape (Sports) The road bike I purchased awhile back came with already wrapped handlebars, but the tape was pretty flimsy and offered little-to-no comfort/padding.The Serfas Echelon Bar Tape is good enough, although it doesn't cater to curves and bends very well. The adhesive works well enough, allowing you to reset your tape numerous times without losing is sticky properties if you aren't the best at wrapping your bars (like myself!). Once I had it right, the bars feel much more comfortable and look AWESOME on a solid black bike. I would however, have a roll of electrical tape handy for finishing up since the strip they offer in the package didin't quite to the trick. I'll be wrapping the handlebars on my other bikes as well and probably go back to this brand again. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Standard Cork Tape, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Serfas Echelon Bar Tape (Sports) This is the standard "cork" tape sold under Serfas as well as Profile and a bunch of other brands. It's soft and grippy and works well; it's basically foam. It's not the most durable tape out there (it tears fairly easily) but it is comfortable enough to be worth it. It's also half the price of SRAM/Cinelli/more expensive cork tape and pretty much the same and works just as well. I end up changing my bar tape fairly often so I stick to the cheaper stuff and I'm happy with it.As far as other people complaining about it not being stick, I'd actually prefer it to be less sticky; sometimes when unwrapping my bars to adjust my hoods it sticks to itself and tears and it is hard to reuse then. I have no idea why someone would want their bar tape to have a super sticky backing; if you need that then you're wrapping your bars wrong. And of course the little finish tape that comes with it is a joke, that's just bar tape. Get a roll of decent electrical tape and you'll be set. 7 of 10 people found the following review helpful its ok if you're not looking for much, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Serfas Echelon Bar Tape (Sports) bought this because I was also buying the serfas handlebar gel pads. I had no clue as to what brand/type of bar tape to buy, and the price was reasonable. it generally functions ok. the quarter inch on either side is tapered and it has the paper-backed adhesive strip. It went on the bars easy enough, though I went too thin overlapping resulting in a bumpy character - tapered edges overlapping being thinner than the center of the strip. Could have corrected this as there was no problem unwrapping and re-wrapping. I've had this for a few months and it seems to hold up well enough and cleans up easy enough. main complaint is that it doesn't feel grippy enough for me; it does ok when dry but with a little moisture it feels slicker that I like. If these issues are not a big deal for you, I can give it my lukewarm recommendation, the price is reasonable and the product serviceable. |
